The Bulldog Orange

Back in the days when the world’s first coffee shop was a fresh idea in a brave little basement, the boys in blue were less than friendly. Raiding The Bulldog First happened multiple times daily. The prospect of a visit from Johnny Law quickly became another reason to visit the hottest spot in Amsterdam. Tourists and cannabis lovers queued out the door and around the block for a chance to experience it all first-hand.

However, the novelty of getting the stash confiscated soon wore thin, so the crew invented a simple signal. If the police hit the door, the staff upstairs dropped an orange through the floor to the team below using a serving hatch. One bright flash of citrus meant: move smart, move now.

That orange saved our skin more times than we can count. It became the stuff of legend: The Bulldog Orange. You can still see the orange and the plaque at The Bulldog First, a small, proud reminder of how Amsterdam cannabis culture learned to survive with wit, nerve, and a bit of fruit.

And yes, the world’s first coffee shop still gets “raided.” These days it’s backpacks, not batons. Tourists flood in, not officers. Different kind of chaos. Same rebellious The Bulldog spirit.

Orange 90: Heritage

Gifted to us for a special anniversary by a world-class breeder, Orange 90 comes from serious stock: (Trop Cookies x Georgia Pie) x (Blue Sherb x Runtz). Think modern Trop energy with tighter stacking and a sweeter gas finish. It carries that new school dessert profile but keeps the structure clean and consistent for growers who like their tents organised.

Appearance

From the outset, this plant bursts with blasts of orange. It leans into its bushy architecture, producing a clean stretch and strong laterals. Expect dense calyx build, heavy trichome coverage, and dark purple colour that pops toward the end without cold room theatrics. Orange pistils cut through the violet for that magazine quality look. Proper top shelf tackle.

Performance

Compact and efficient indoors, with around 90 to 130 cm height. Outdoors or in a greenhouse, it can push up to 180 cm with the right season. Yields land 500 to 600 g/m² indoors and up to 900 g/plant outside. Orange 90 suits whatever your needs are. It will perform well for flower runs and any hash or extract work you have in mind. These plants produce thick heads of resin that are perfect for a nice, clean press.

Growing

Medium difficulty. Responds well to topping and LST, and it plays nice in SCROG because those laterals love a net. Keep airflow steady; the buds get dense. Feed moderately during bloom, then push a late PK nudge to tighten the finish. Colour often appears by week seven to eight, and a light night drop near the end deepens the purple without stress.

Effects

Bright on the uptake with a clear citrus lift, then smooths into calm focus, taking the weight off your feet and freeing the troubles from your mind. Orange 90 is social enough for a coffeeshop chat, steady enough for a creative session, but it would strap you to the couch and wait for you to come round. It has more clarity to the high with a warm exhale.

Taste and Aromas

Gas candy with orange and tropical push. Limonene drives the citrus, caryophyllene adds warm spice, and ocimene layers are added to the mango and floral top notes. On the grind, it is orange rind and sweet gas. On the pull, it is creamy tropical with a diesel tail. Lingers long.
